Why do dog poops in the house ?

Well, there are several reasons why a dog poops in the house, lets discuss on why does dogs poops and few simple steps to avoid it.

There are several reasons for a dog pooping in the house.

No 1. When the dog is old.
Yes, when the dog is aged he tends to poop as there is no control the dog has on his bowel as he use to have when he was young. Because of the incontinence older dogs tend to poop more often. They might also urinate more frequently then normal dogs. Hence the best way is to potty train a dog at home or else take him for frequent walk after food.

No 2. When the dog is afraid.
When the dog is afraid they tend to poop and it can be because of anything. It can be a new object in your house, it can be fire crackers, it can be thunder or if the dog is afraid to any person the dog tends to poop. Hence socialisation is the key. Socialise the dog at earliest to the surrounding, objects, vehicles, people so that the dog doesn't get afraid to the stimuli.

No 3. When the dog has a medical issue.
Yes, when the dog has medical issue you can rectify it as your dog will frequently poop. It can be because of several bacteria, fungi, viruses as well. Hence a medical attention is required. The major cause is gastro enteritis. Also if the dog is not dewormed the dog will also tend to poop in the house because of ring worm, tape worm, hookworm etc.

No 4. Separation anxiety.
When the dog has separation anxiety. When you leave a dog alone in the house the dog might poop because of the anxiety. Even when the dog is happy at time they tend to poop and pee as well. How to train a dog to fetch ?

It might be a little tough thing to train a dog to fetch objects and get it back to you, but however it is not impossible. Lets us first know what exactly the command means. Well, fetch is a command wherein you throw something and your dog runs behind that object and gets the same object back to you. Now many people must be wondering how to train a dog to get the object back to us. As a majority of dog owner might face problem such as the dog going behind the object, but not getting it back. Dog getting the object but not dropping it from the jaws. Lets take this discussion further through this blog and lets learn few basic tips on how to train a dog to fetch.

First step is to make the dog run behind the object. You can throw his favourite toy, stick or any object that the dog loves and the dog will eventually run behind that. Motivate the dog before throwing the object. Get him in a playful mood. Once you are motivated the dog will also get motivated and will tend to run behind the object. Once the dog runs towards the object go to the dog praise him with treat. In order to eat the treats the dog will automatically drop the object he has grabbed in his mouth. Once he does that praise him more with love and affection. Continue doing the same thing until the dog willingly runs behind the object.

Second step is to make the dog come to you. Now once the dog learns to run behind the object thrown he will eventually run and grab the object as well. As mentioned in the first step go behind the dog to praise him when he grabs the object. However now just throw the object or the toy. This time don't go behind the dog as the dog will eventually come back to you looking at the treats in your hand. Once he comes towards you praise him with the treat and affection and he will drop the object he has been holding in order to eat the treats.

Third step is to follow this tricks everyday when the dog is in a playful mood. If the dog is not in a playful mood stop the training and train the dog some other time. If the dog initially tends to run away from us with the object in his mouth as we go close to him to praise him as mentioned in the first step. Kindly keep him on leash and train him. Again consistency is the key. The more your consistent, the more quickly the dog will learn. Cheers.

Tips on training a dog not to jump.

How to stop a dog from jumping on strangers and family members ?

Well, Dogs has a natural tendency to jump and pounce while greeting, dogs even jump when they are happy. Many dog owners face this situation with their dog and wonder what to do and how to stop the dog from jumping on strangers and also on the family member. Firstly, lets find out why do dog jumps ? There can be several reasons behind a dog jumping on strangers or on people in the family. The major cause for this behaviour is "EXCITEMENT", yes you heard it right thats excitement that leads the dog to jump on you. Well if its the excitement, then how to stop it. Lets cover this topic and find few simple tricks on how to train a dog not to jump on others.

Remember, dogs are human mirror image. If we humans are excited after looking at a dog or while greeting him, the dog for sure will jump and pounce on you as even he will be excited. This is mainly seen in over friendly dogs. If our energy is not stable even the dogs state of mind will not be stable. Well, still a majority of people and my viewers must be wondering on how to train a dog to stop jumping. Lets straight get to the answer. Whenever greeting or meeting a dog after a long time. Never ever greet him with excitement. Be stable the dog will eventually come to you happily wagging his tail and will try to jump on you. However if no attention given, the dog will eventually be stable and will move back. Once the dog moves back and is stable go to him and praise him with affection. Now what exactly are we trying to tell the dog. Firstly, the dog will realise that if I jump on him he will ignore me and the dog will prefer moving back as he is going to get nothing. But when he moves back and sits and his energy is stable thats when you are going to praise him and that will act as a reward for him. Eventually, the dog overtime will prefer wagging his tail, sniffing and sitting with a stable energy as the dog knows for what he is going to get rewarded. Now what if the dog is excited and he jumps on us to greet and at the same time even we because of our human tendency tend to call up his name, talk to him, pat him well then thats what the mistake is. Over here we humans are spoiling the dog, as the dog might think that he will be rewarded with affection when he jumps or pounce on the person. Remember the key rule if the dog is excited simply NO TALKING, NO TOUCHING, NO EYE CONTACT. And your good to go.

You will have to try this with your dog a dozen of time. When coming back from work, friends place, or even after a party. Never ever greet the dog on a high note. Be stable once you are stable even the dogs state of mind will be stable. Once the dog is stable and sits. Go to him and praise him with love and affection. Once the dogs gets use to it over time the dog will even avoid jumping on strangers or other people.

Can a dog or a puppy be gifted to someone as a Christmas present ?

Well, a lot of people loves dogs as a puppy mainly because the puppy is cute. But again there are a lot of things that one must consider while gifting a pup to some one. Firstly gifting a pup is a long time commitment, people might happily accept the pup as a gift. But what after that ? People should also consider other factors such as frequent urination, teething, walks, responsibility once the dog is old and so on. Firstly one who gifting the dog should educate the person about the responsibly that comes with the dog as again its a life that we have to take care of. Never gift a pup to some one who travels a lot and stays alone. As he might not be able to keep the pup with him every time. The pup will eventually end up in a shelter or a adoption centre. What if you are gifting a pup to some one who cannot devotee much of the time in walking or exercising the dog. The dog will eventually become a nuisance and will become aggressive over time. Hence proper time and walk is recommended to a dog as a pup.

Hence when gifting a pup to a individual, family or a friend. Educate the person about the responsibly and the care he needs to take of the pup. If the person is experienced and had dogs before than that won't be a problem at all. However if you are gifting a dog to a fresher who never had dogs earlier educate the person and then give a dog as a present. Hope this information was helpful and do consider the tips before gifting a live animal be it Cat, Dog, Hamster, Fish etc.

Why do dog urinate when excited ?

Well, for most of the dog owner this act may be shameful. For example, there are some guest in your house suddenly your dog goes towards them jumps and also urinates while greeting them. What would you do? Well if its an animal friendly person he will definitely not mind. But what if the guest visiting your house is not an animal person. Will you yell at your dog? Shout? Smack?. Well lets find the answer for this question through this blog.

Firstly, lets know the reason on why dog urinates when excited? Lets consider small kids first. Kids usually when small does not have control over their bladder and pees frequently. Also when we are excited we tend to pee but our mind sends signal to our body that we have to control it. But as a kid we tend to pee in our pants when excited and afraid. Same goes with our dog as well. Dogs not only urinates when excited but also urinates when they are afraid. On top of that if their bladder is full it becomes very difficult for them to control. Its not that they want to dirty the floor or want to intentionally urinate in the house, its simply they cannot control it and while they peeing if you shout or scream it even makes thing more worse.

What is the solution for this ?
As a trainer this things can be taken care off not 100%, but at least 90% of the thing can be taken care off. Firstly when we know there are guest's who are going to visit our place. Prior to that take your dog for good long walk. Once the dog is tired and has urinated outside, there are two major advantage that you will have. First the dog will not get that excited as he is tired. Second even if he excited he will not pee as his bladder is empty. We humans are also a major part of the complete process, wherein we need to make sure when we greet or approach any dog or visa versa. We should be stable. Three rules we should be aware of when approaching any excited dog is that NO TALK, NO TOUCH, NO EYE CONTACT. Even if the dog is hyper or excited just be stable. If even we get excited the dog will definitely tend to pee.

Now lets come to the solution on whether to yell, shout, smack on dog when the dog urinates or to simply follow the steps as mentioned above. Well can we shout at our kid when he tends to pee in his pants? Well, the answer is no. The same way say no to shouting or yelling as this will make the situation more worse. Follow the simple steps and you will never have to shout at your best friend.

How to train a dog to come (Recall)

Most of the dog owners might find this command as a very tough command to train a dog, however a dog can be trained easily to come on command by using few basic techniques. Start the training by keeping the dog on leash. Once the dog is on leash make the dog sit. Move away from the dog with the other end of leash in your hand. Say come in a firm voice and move back till the dog comes all the way to you. Once the dog reaches you reward the dog with treat and affection. If the dog is distracted by the surrounding try carrying some tasty treats. Make the dog sit and tell him to stay at the same time. Once the dog listens to both the command that is Sit and Stay. Move away from the dog and by showing the treat in your hand tell the dog to come. Dog will eventually come running towards to you. Praise him with treat and affection. Once the dog master this command on leash. Try training him without leash by simply making him sit along with stay. Drop the leash and move away from the dog. Recall the dog saying come and the dog will walk towards you. Try practicing this command indoor with dog and slowly can train him outdoor with distraction. Master the walk with your dog.

How to master a walk with your dog?

Well, Majority of pet parents are confused on how to treat, handle or manage a dog on the walk. Today we will be talking on how to train a dog along with ourself getting trained on how to walk our best friend. Many dog owner comes in stating their dog pulls, drags, pounces, eat anything on ground and so on. However lets first focus on the equipment we will require in order to train a dog to behave on walk and to master the walk. Firstly a collar is required, however it cannot be flat collar or a harness. It has to be a Slip on chain or Slip on collar. Remember the key thing, dogs alway belongs to a pack i.e Group of dog, as they are a pack animal and they consider we human as a pack. Basically a dogs pack always consist of alpha male and a alpha female. In order to master a walk, we need to master the leadership first. The dog must consider we human as a alpha male or alpha female and thats the key, Once the dog consider us as a alpha we are done. We can always show the dog their place in the family and can be a alpha for them by demonstrating some daily activity with them. For eg:- Never ever play with dog when the dog gets you the ball or frisbee, its you who should walk up to the dog when in order to play any game with the dog. Now in human terms this might sound rude but thats how it is. An alpha never follows someone. But others have to follow him. Never share the food from your plate or let him eat first before you eat. As alpha dog never share their meal nor eat after others. Its the alpha who eats the meal and then the others. Thats how we as a human can make a dog realise his place in the pack i.e family.

Coming back to the walk, once you master all this basic things. Always while on a walk never keep a dog on a loose leash. You will have no control over the walk and instead of you leading the walk as a leader the dog will lead you. Always keep a dog on a tight leash making sure that the slip on collar is close to the ear around the neck. Always make it a habit that your dog walks towards your left beside you or behind you. Never let your dog lead you as its the pack who follows the Alpha dog and not the Alpha dog. Never talk to dog while on a walk. Keep the leash loose if you know the place is safe or the dog is about to pee or poop making sure you clean it once the dog is done. If you see any other dog in front of you, don't stop till the other dog passes you. As already your dog has set his eyes on him and will tend to pounce or drag you towards him. As a fight or a conflict it starts when two dogs stare at each other. Avoid your dog to maintain any kind of eye contact with other dog, simply by changing the direction you are walking in. Never ever walk a dog at a very slow speed the dog will then have a lot of distraction to bother him. Walk him fast and quick so that the dog is focused on walk instead of paying attention else where. Follow this basic things daily and if you can also train your dog to heel at the same time "Congrats" you have already mastered the walk with your best friend.

However they do require walk and exercise as well, but a minimal walk and exercise will do for small breeds. They can also be carried easily any where any time. However this doesn't stop them from being protective or possessive about their owners. A small breed dog can also turn in to a ferocious dog if not trained properly. Hence training at early stage is required for small breed as well. Also people with small property can go ahead with small breeds, which will take less space in the house as well.

Proper knowledge about the breed is highly recommended before getting one. Each and every dog in this category has a special requirement. Training is must. It won't take time for this dogs to be a alpha male and female. Large breed requires a larger space to roam, run and play. They cannot be kept in a confined place. Each breed again has a different energy level doesn't matter be it a beagle or a boxer.

Giant Breed
Giant Breed mainly consist of St.Bernard, Great Dane, Irish wolfhound, Newfoundland, etc. They have a very less life span because of their sheer size i.e between 6 - 8 years. However they need utmost attention like all other dogs require. They might also suffer from a lot of health issue such as Hip dysplysia because of their heavy weight and size. Proper nutrition should be the main priority and also a big property. This dogs although may look huge and dominant, but most of them however are gentle giants and may require training and exercise to avoid weight gain and hip problem. Also giant dogs are not preferred in a family with small children as they might accidentally push or pull a kid who cannot bear their weight. Eating habit and space for them to play, sleep, eat should be considered before getting a giant breed. Walking is a must for breed belonging to this category. Hence before purchasing or adopting a giant breed a thorough research is must.

Train a dog to "Leave it"

Leave it
This is one of the major and most important training that we should train a dog for, major reason behind this training is that the dog should not eat any unwanted stuff and also should not eat anything thats left on its own. There are very simple steps that we can take on a daily basis in order for the dog to master this trick. Firstly grab some tasty treat in your hand make a fist keeping some treat in your hand. The dog will get eager to get that treat out of your hand and will start sniffing and licking. Once the dogs starts doing all this activity in a firm voice say LEAVE IT. Once the dogs looks at you when you say leave it instantly praise the dog with the treat. Make sure the treat you use to praise the dog is different from the one that you have in your hand. Follow this step multiple times once the dogs looks at you every time  praise the dog. After couple of days place the treat in a bowl. Make the dog sit in front of the bowl and at the same time command him to stay as well. Go near the treat and say leave it. Stand away from the bowl. Release the Stay command once the dog tries to sniff the bowl while coming towards you say leave it in an affirmative voice, once the dog looks at you and walks towards you praise the dog with ample of affection and treat. Train a dog to Heel beside you.

HEEL
This command might be a challenge for most of the pet parents, however it can be trained easily to the dog if executed properly. Basic requirement in order to teach a Heel command to a dog is some yummy treats that your dog loves. Once you have the treat, make the dog sit beside you on your left side. Show him the treat in your hand and let him focus on you through that treat. Move ahead saying heel with your left foot and the dog himself will start walking looking at the treat in your hand. Stop after two or three steps and make the dog sit. Praise the dog with the treat. Repeat the same procedure again make sure this time you walk four to five steps with the dog focusing on the treat. Moving your left foot first as it will act as a sign for the dog that he has to move when you move your feet. Initially start this by keeping the dog on leash. Once the dog masters the command with the leash, later can continue without the leash as well. If the dog is distracted kindly stop the training session and train him some other time. This command will avoid the dog from dragging you on walks.

Tips to train a dog to Shake and Stay.

Hello friends, Today we will continue with the topic i.e Tips on how to train a pup at home. The command that we will cover today is Shake and Stay. These things at time gets a bit tricky. Lets start on with the topic today thats Shake.

Shake Hand
Dog has a natural instinct to raise a paw. In order to train a pup to shake hand. Grab a treat and hide in your fist. Let the pup sniff. Once the pup gets focused on your fist just place your fist below his muzzle or chin. Dog will eventually raise his paw to remove the treat from your hand.  Gently hold his paw and say shake and praise him with another treat. Remember do not use the same treat that was there in your hand. Praise the dog and pat him and continue the same thing again and again. Consistency is the key. After few more practice the pup will get an idea that in order to get the treat I have to raise the paw and then your done. Later follow the same procedure without a treat and for sure the pup will raise his paw once you take ur hand close to him.

Stay
Most of the pet parents think that this a tuff command to train a dog. However this command that is stay needs a lot of patience and practice. Firstly make the pup sits. Once the pup sits just take your hand in front of your pups nose and say stay. Move away from your pup maybe couple of step behind  make sure the pup is focused on you. Return back to the pup and praise him with the treat saying "Good boy or Good stay". Repeat the procedure again, follow the same thing again however this time try to get away from dog more than the first. If the dog doesn't move return back to the pup and praise him again. If any time during the practice you see dog is moving don't get irritated. Just go to the pup and make him sit and follow the same thing again. If the dogs show lack of interest try his favourite treats or train him some other time.

Folks, I hope this piece of information was useful if any doubt or any query do comment below would be happy to answer all of them. Thank you.

Tips to train a pup at home.

How to train a pup at home ?

Well, alot of people have the same questions in their mind when they get a new puppy at home. most of them are worried with their behaviour which covers loads of things i.e from biting, chewing, eating almost everything. Well, I will certainly try my best to help most of my viewers on how to raise a pup and also a few tip on training them at home.

Firstly we need to make show before teaching any command be it Sit, Lie down. We need to make sure that the pup is mentally stable. His energy is stable. The best way to make a pup stable is through exercise or walk. Make sure you don't walk him excessively as its still a pup.

Once the pups energy is stable, you can start training him with basic command such as Sit, Lie Down, Leave it, Stay, Heel.

SIT
Sit is the very basic command that you can teach your pup. Grab a favourite treat or grab a favourite toy. Try to grab his attention towards you. Once the pup is focused stand in front of the pup with a treat in your hand. Eventually the pup will sit. Praise him with that treat instantly with a nice pat and repeat the same thing again. After few days just stand in front of the pup without any treat pretending you have treat in your hand. The pup will think you have the treat and then he will sit. Praise him this time not with treat but with love and affection. Repeat it multiple times and your done. Remember patience is the key.

LIE DOWN
The Second most important command is Lie down. Follow the same procedure of using a treat. A treat is recommended instead of a toy. Make the pup sit, once he sits make him sniff your hand once he gets interested in the treat gently touch your hand on the ground and move your hand away from the pup touching the ground. The pup will eventually sniff your hand and will lie down. Praise him again with treat and repeat the procedure again and again. Make sure after few weeks you can use gesture as if you have the treat in your hand and make him lie down. Again affection on a high note will grab the pups interest in this training.

If you feel that these basic tips have really helped you. Kindly comment below so that I can cover tips on other command as well. Thank you.
